Renting a campervan in Australia can be a great way to get away for a few days. Australia obviously has a very interesting and beautiful landscape, so it’s not surprising to know that many people come here from all over the world to see and explore the beautiful outdoors. Whether you live in Australia or are planning to visit from somewhere else, renting a campervan can be the perfect way to see this beautiful country.

Before Renting Campervan

Campervan rentals are not very different from other types of vehicle rentals, but it’s essential to know what you can expect before you embark on your journey. Campervans are certainly very different from other types of vehicles, after all. What should you know before you rent such a vehicle on your next trip?

What You Need to Qualify for a Rental

Before you even start planning your trip, you’ll want to be sure you are qualified to rent such a vehicle. What are the qualifications for renting a campervan in Australia? Many people who rent these vehicles are not from this country, so it’s not necessary to have an Australian driver’s license. However, most companies will require that the renter’s license be written in English, so it is readable by the staff. You also need to be at least twenty-one years of age in order to rent a campervan in most cases, and some companies will charge a fee if you are younger than twenty-five years of age. It may be best to contact the rental company before you plan your trip to be sure you qualify based on their standards. You don’t want to show up and find out you can’t rent their vehicles, after all.

Insurance

Whenever you rent a vehicle, it is always best to ensure that you purchase insurance. Read through the terms carefully so you understand what your personal responsibility is if there is an accident. In some cases, there will be a deductible or extra fee you will have to pay if there is an accident in which you were responsible. Be sure you can afford this, so there are no issues in the case of an accident. You may also want to call the rental agencies that are available in the area you’re visiting to ensure you understand their insurance policies. In some cases, bonds will be required, and that means you may need a credit card from a major company. These bonds are essentially held in case there is an accident, and if you return the vehicle in good shape, all of this money will be returned to you. Whether or not there is a bond, and exactly how much this bond is will all depend on the rental agency’s policies. This is another thing you may want to call ahead to ask about, so you aren’t stuck with an unexpected expense.
